New Ways of Finding a Partner

A lot of relationships now started from a single hi or hello in a chat room. Then meet-up later. Odd isn’t it? But that happens every day. Some of them may break up, but the rest usually end up getting married like the two stories below.

Due to curiosity, my brother-in-law played a dating application in Facebook. After a week, he found a photo of a lady attractive that he decided to get to know her better. It turned out that the girl was also attracted to him. So they exchanged messages, and started chatting longer.

Meeting in person became irresistible, so they did; and to our surprise he proposed to the girl after two weeks of dating offline, and she accepted it! We were in awe when we heard the news, but only my brother-in-law could fathom the strong chemistry they felt. All we did was to give them our approval despite the quick engagement.

The second story is about my acquaintance who first met her partner through an international web dating site for members of a certain religion. She explained she was just nosy that she joined the match-making site. But I believe she got encouraged when she found out that other members of the site also had the same religion as hers.

After days of browsing and chatting with other members, she finally felt head over heels with this foreigner who could converse with her native language and had visited her hometown for a long time. After eight months, the guy flew across the pacific just to meet her. Within the guy’s short visit, they got engaged. It’s crazy but romantic! When the guy went back to US, he started the petition for an Alien Fiancee. It was a long wait, but once it was approved, my friend immediately got an interview for her fiancée Visa USA. The moment it was approved, US became just a few days away. They got hitched a couple of months later.

As more and more people uses the internet to interact with other people, stories like these two will become common.
